Cabei to allocate nearly US$650mn to El Salvador in 2025

The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (Cabei) will invest US$646mn in El Salvador in 2025, with the bulk of the amount for the development of new infrastructure projects, the institution announced. 

The bank said on via social media that its executive president, Gisela Sánchez, met Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele to discuss this investment and other relevant topics for next year. 

Cabei said that US$350mn of the total will be allocated to new infrastructure projects, without mentioning specific projects, while the remaining US$296mn will be spent on projects that are already underway.

“With this announcement, the bank is renewing its commitment to our [member] countries to continue supporting their positive transformation,” it added. 

One of the biggest projects currently being carried out in in El Salvador is the construction of the Francisco Morazán viaduct and the expansion of the CA01W highway, slated to cost US$400mn.
