Cabei to lend US$200mn to El Salvador for education infrastructure
The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (Cabei) will provide a US$200mn loan to El Salvador to help finance a program to build and refurbish education infrastructure.
The funds will be used next year in the Mi Nueva Escuela program, which is focused on school redesign as a way to improve education.
Cabei and the ministry for education, science and technology (Mineducyt) will implement the program in 74 facilities in 10 departments: Santa Ana, Sonsonate, San Miguel, Morazán, La Unión, Cabañas, Chalatenango, La Libertad, Cuscatlán and La Paz.
Tenders LPI 19/2022-MINEDUCYT-BCIE, LPI NO 16/2022-MINEDUCYT-BCIE and LPI 15/2022-MINEDUCYT-BCIE include construction, repairs and maintenance of buildings.
The deadline to present proposals is January 27 for the first two tenders and January 13 for the third.
