Cable & Wireless launches US$5mn network ops center

UK-owned fixed and mobile telephony operator Cable & Wireless Barbados has launched a US$5mn network operations center (NOC) in Barbados to monitor its 14 units throughout the Caribbean, the Trinidad Guardian reported. The center, located in the city of Wildey, will monitor global interconnection and enable management of network resources across the region, the report said. The center will have a staff of over 30 employees, who have undergone special training to monitor service. Employees at Cable & Wireless' NOC in Jamaica have also undergone special training. The two centers will collaborate to provide redundancy and service continuity 24/7, according to the report.
