Canada’s Tower One deploys 20 new LatAm towers in June

Canadian telecommunications infrastructure group Tower One Wireless built and delivered 20 new towers in Latin America during June, according to the company’s latest construction report.

As a result, it ended the first half of the year with 421 sites in operation in Latin America.

The number of towers delivered in the month was higher than the four sites activated in May, although down slightly from the 22 towers the company added in June 2022.

Again, all the new sites were deployed to carriers in Colombia and Ecuador, the two markets where the company has concentrated its deliveries for the past several months.

The new towers in Colombia, a total of 15, were deployed in the following localities: Udeo, Los Naranjos and Pradera (Valle de Cauca department), Alto Baudo, Bajo Baudo and Unguia (Chocó), Parque Industrial Cauca, Totoro, San Sebastian and Mercaderes (Cauca), and Vegachi, San Carlos and Sabana de San Luis (Antioquia).

They are a mix of urban, semi-rural and rural structures, comprising both macro towers (up to 85m tall) and greenfield monopoles (usually urban, up to 30m tall).

In Ecuador, the new towers were activated in Urdesa (Guayas’ Guayaquil), Recreo 5TA Duran, Duran Recreo Etapa 4 Norte and Abel Gilbert Oeste (Guayas’ Duran), and Latacunga Bethlemitas (Cotopaxi).

As of end-May, Tower One had built a total of 547 towers in five Latin American countries, although some of them have been decommissioned. Of those operating towers, 321 were in Colombia, 73 in Ecuador and seven in Mexico.
