Caribbean climate fund eyeing multilateral support

Sygnus Capital submitted a financing request to IDB Invest for the company’s Caribbean Community Resilience Fund.

The St Lucia-based investment group seeks support to advance climate mitigation and adaptation.

“The target sectors are renewable energy, blue economy, sustainable housing, information and communications technology (“ICT”), transport, financial services, and climate-smart agriculture,” information from IDB’s private lending arm shows.

IDB Invest adds that the fund’s goal is US$100-135 million and that the Caricom Development Fund has already committed US$15mn.

The proposed transaction entails syndicated and financing amounts of US$5mn. IDB Invest’s board is due to consider the request in October.

The following graphs were released by Sygnus as part of its first quarter results.
