Trinidad and Tobago's Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries reported that cabinet has approved a contract to supply 31Mf3/d of natural gas to NiQuan Energy's gas to liquids project.
The contract was executed on behalf of newly incorporated state owned energy company Trinidad and Tobago Upstream Downstream Energy Operations, said the ministry, which highlighted that the 31Mf3/d represents less than 1% of the country's gas supply.
"The financial benefits include US$35M payment to Petrotrin, a capital injection of US$125M into the economy and TT$2Bn in taxes and statutory payments over the life of the project," added the ministry. Construction will take around one year.

In an update, Melbana Energy said it has identified the preferred contractors for the civil works and rig for the planned drilling program at Cuba onshore block 9 that could begin in December.
Meanwhile, efforts continue to evaluate an incremental oil recovery opportunity at offshore block Santa Cruz.
