Caribbean nations call on app creators for mobile contest
The Caribbean countries of Suriname, The Bahamas, Belize, St Lucia and Haiti called on their citizens to create and submit mobile apps to the World Summit Award Mobile (WSA-mobile) app contest, technology site Silicon Caribe reported.
Started in 2010, WSA-mobile is a non-profit global initiative that "aims to make the benefits of the new information society accessible," according to its website, and "to raise public awareness and give deserved public recognition to the highest quality e-content, produced all over the world."
There are eight mobile app categories in the contest, the site said.
An international grand jury selects 40 winners from around the world to present their apps to the WSA-mobile Global Congress.
