Caribbean roundup: Project financing, grid clearance, procurement

The IFC placed a request in its financing pipeline for Renewstable Barbados’ (RSB) solar and energy storage project.

Information from the World Bank’s private sector lending arm reveals that IFC would bring US$41mn from the Green Climate Fund as part of a debt package for which IFC is mobilizing a further US$70mn from local/regional banks with IDB Invest.

RSB was established by Hydrogène de France and Rubis to develop the 50MWp photovoltaic plant with a 15MW (30WMh) battery energy storage system and 90MWh of hydrogen storage.

Grid clearance

Dominican Republic electricity regulator SIE authorized Dominican Power Partners (DPP) to put into service a 10MW battery energy storage system (BESS).

The BESS will support primary frequency regulation and is at DPP’s 324MW Los Mina thermal plant in Santo Domingo province.

Procurement

The Guyana Energy Agency launched bidding to supply solar equipment to install photovoltaic arrays at 21 public and community buildings.
