Caribbean roundup: Renewable energy auction, service call, billing

Energy service consultancy Accion Group is conducting an auction of renewable resources in the US Virgin Islands totaling 128MW solar and 63.2MWh battery energy storage owned by VIElectron.
“In response to the ongoing needs for reliable energy in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Governor Albert Bryan, Jr. issued Executive Order No. 537-a-2024 which declared an energy emergency and directed the Water and Power Authority (“WAPA”) to take all necessary action to procure new energy sources,” Accion announced.
Accion said that the initial auction for the first facility, Petronella, is being conducted on an expedited basis in response to the emergency. Petronella is operational and has a 25-year power purchase agreement with WAPA and has an assured point of interconnection and transmission.
The auction process is available here.
Service call
