The Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC) signed its first solar photovoltaic (PV) project in The Bahamas with the Caribbean Bottling Company (CBC).

The US$1mn loan will finance the installation of a rooftop solar PV system at CBC's main bottling plant in Nassau, IIC said in a statement.

Dominican Republic power holding company CDEEE opened economic offers to supply distributors with 900MW for up to five years.

AES Andrés offered 275MW from gas-fired generation; fuel oil bids came from Palamara (96MW), La Vega (60MW), Quisqueya (210MW), Pimentel 1, 2 and 3 (62.8MW), CEPP 1 and 2 (59.3MW), Monte Río (45MW), Los Orígenes (50MW), San Felipe (100MW) and Estrella de Mar (85MW); and coal offers from Barahona Carbón (40MW) and Itabo 1 and 2 (110MW each), CDEEE said in a statement.

Authorities revealed that the maximum and minimum price caps were US$0.082/kWh and US$0.075/kWh. Contracts will be awarded next week.

Meanwhile, the country's national energy commission CNE and civil aviation authority IDAC launched operations of a 1MW PV park (pictured) at the Norge Botello aeronautical complex in Punta Caucedo near the Américas international airport.
