CCR invests in Foz do Iguaçu airport expansion
CCR Aeroportos, the airports arm of Brazilian infrastructure firm CCR, will invest 270mn reais (US$56mn) to expand Foz do Iguaçu airport in Paraná state.
Works are expected to be completed by end-2024 and will include the rehabilitation of the runway, new aircraft parking space and a passenger terminal modernization, according to a state press release.
Capacity is planned to increase from 2,000 passengers per hour to 2,600, reflecting rising tourist numbers.
CCR won the concession in 2021 as part of a package that included the Afonso Pena (São José dos Pinhais), Governador José Richa (Londrina) and Bacacheri (Curitiba) local facilities. All contracts are valid 30 years and demand combined investment of 1.4bn reais.
As part of the contract, CCR is obliged to invest 512mn reais in Foz do Iguaçu airport.
