CDEEE starts final phase of US$10mn distribution project

The Dominican Republic's state power company CDEEE has started construction of a substation in Yamasa, San Cristobal province, which is the last phase of a 330mn peso (US$9.82mn) project to improve local power supplies, the government news service reported. The project includes a 124km, 138kV transmission line and is scheduled to start operations by March 2004, CDEEE engineering director Fausto Perez was quoted as saying. The project allows for the supply of 100MW, covering anticipated demand for the next 20 years.
