CELEC EP contributes with 86% of the country's electricity demand

This Celec release was published using machine translation.
The increase in flows in the hydrographic basins where the main hydroelectric plants are located, as well as the availability of hydroelectric generation units, allow the Electric Corporation of Ecuador (CELEC EP), this Thursday, December 18, to contribute 86 percent percent of the energy consumed by the country.
The rains recorded in the south and the availability of its three generation units made it possible for the Minas San Francisco Hydroelectric Power Plant, which uses the waters of the Jubones River, to contribute its 270 megawatts (MW) to the National Interconnected System (SNI).
The same occurs in the center of the Ecuadorian coast, with the Marcel Laniado de Wind plant, which uses the waters of the Daule Peripa dam, which contributes 213 MW of power to the SNI. Likewise, the 65 MW Manduriacu Power Plant, located in the northwestern region of the country, contributes with all its energy potential, with its two generation units.
It is also necessary to highlight the Coca Codo Sinclair plant, which is located in the northeast of the country and takes advantage of the waters of the Coca River, which has average flows greater than 240 cubic meters per second (m 3 /s), this day it contributes 1,112 MW of hourly power for the SNI.
These actions allowed the suspension of power cuts for the next 48 hours and the reduction of energy imports from Colombia, thereby achieving significant savings in economic resources for the national electricity sector.
