Celsia inaugurates a 3.8 MW solar farm in Panama for Calesa, the largest agro-industrial group in the country
The following is a machine translation of a Celsia release
Celsia, an energy company of the Argos Group, continues to advance in self-generation projects for companies in Central America, this time with the construction of a new solar farm located in the province of Coclé in Panama, the Calesa Solar Park . This system has a capacity of 3.8 MWp and an estimated generation of 5,750 kW/h per year, managing to cover 100% of the energy required by the plants of the Calesa Group, the largest agro-industrial company in Panama.
This solar park will supply clean energy to the sugar mill that produces La Estrella sugar, the plant that produces Arroz Del'oro and the plant that produces the Larro line of foods, recognized brands in the group's portfolio and whose production will now be carried out under standards of innovation and energy efficiency.
“This solar park is not only a source of clean and renewable energy, but also our concrete contribution to the well-being of future generations. We have worked hand in hand with Celsia and with a committed team in the field, factories and administration, to make this project a reality. This synergy drives us towards world-class sustainability and reaffirms our commitment to a sustainable future for Panama,” says Rodrigo Cardenal, CEO of Grupo Calesa.
This solar park has 6,480 solar panels installed on 4.5 hectares of land and will stop emitting 2,021 tons of CO2 per year, due to the absorption of carbon dioxide by 112,273 mature trees.
Likewise, Javier Gutiérrez, Celsia's Leader in Central America, states that " Celsia offers innovative solutions in Central America that allow companies to self-generate their own energy and adopt energy efficiency measures, contributing to environmental conservation and the reduction of CO2 emissions . " Currently, the company has an installed capacity, including Honduras, Panama and Costa Rica, of 51 MW, and 22 MW under construction, for a total of 73 MW. "With this solar plant, we not only contribute to the well-being of our environment, but we also drive a significant change in the way we generate and consume energy in Panama," he concluded.
