Guatemala transmission infrastructure

Guatemala’s power regulator CNEE authorized Transportadora de Energía de Centroamérica (Trecsa) to carry out the 230/69kV Chajul substation and the 230kV Covadonga-Uspatpan second circuit and expand the 69/13.8kV Antigua substation by replacing the 14MVA transformer with a 28MVA unit.

The watchdog also greenlighted Redes Eléctricas de Centroamérica’s (Recsa) 69/34.5/13.8kV Chajul substation project.

For its part, IELOU Energy secured CNEE approval to connect its 4.8MW Fénix 2 Monterrico solar plant to distributor Empresa Eléctrica de Guatemala’s (Eegsa) grid.
