Reference Terms

Honduras’ power regulator CREE published a resolution which approves reference terms for the planned international public tender to supply 1,500MW.

The greenlight allows state power company Enee to draft the bidding rules for the call, which envisions 800MW online in 2027, 400MW the following year and 300MW in 2029.

Geothermal procurement

Nicaragua’s energy and mines ministry modified the tender timetable for a contract to develop the Cosigüina geothermal project.

Offers for the 434-day contract to drill wells in the Cosigüina volcano are now due September 23.

The project is in the Cosigüina peninsula in the municipality of El Viejo, Chinandega department, some 210km northwest of capital Managua. 

Wind project visit

El Salvador’s state power company CEL conducted a visit with HDF Energy to the potential site of what would be the country’s second wind farm.

The plant would boast 30MW in a first phase and is envisioned to be built in Metapán, Santa Ana department. The project is in the feasibility and predesign phase.

The Central American nation’s first wind farm, the 54MW Ventus complex, was commissioned in 2021.
