Centennial signs Qualcomm's BREW solution

The Puerto Rican division of US wireless operator Centennial Communications (Nasdaq: CYCL) has signed up to install the BREW mobile applications platform developed by US telecoms services firm Qualcomm, according to a Qualcomm statement. "Centennial is confident that the upcoming deployment of BREW applications will enhance the services portfolio we provide to our wireless subscribers," Centennial Puerto Rico product and development director Jose Rivera said. Centennial will use the BREW platform to let its customers shop for and download various mobile applications such as games, videos and ringtones. Centennial's Caribbean operations consist of networks in Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and the US Virgin Islands. Welsh, Carson Anderson & Stowe and an affiliate of the Blackstone Group are controlling shareholders of Centennial.
