Central America watch: Biogas call, wind project hearing, solar park nod

El Salvador’s state power company CEL modified the bidding timetable for the US$98mn Acelhuate water treatment and biogas plant.

The deadline to submit offers was extended to March 5 from February 12, according to an update. The tender was launched in December.

The project aims to purify 70% of capital San Salvador’s wastewater and the power generation component consists of 3.19MW from biogas, 1.7MW solar and 0.54MW hydro.

Wind project hearing

Costa Rica’s public services regulator Aresep will hold a public hearing on February 17 to review a public service concession request submitted by company La Ventosa del Lago.

La Ventosa was a winner in state power company ICE’s call for a block of 370MW with the 20MW Las Pavas wind project.

Solar park nod

The board of Panama state power generator Egesa approved development of a 5MW solar plant.

Egesa already operates the 2.4MW Sarigua photovoltaic park in Parita district, Herrera province.

Further information about the new project was not disclosed.
