Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) and Energía Mayakan announced the start of construction of the expansion of the Energía Mayakan gas pipeline, which aims to guarantee the transportation of natural gas for the generation of energy that the Yucatan Peninsula will demand in the coming years.

The official start of construction was witnessed by the designated ambassador of the French Republic in Mexico, Delphine Borione; Energy Minister Miguel Ángel Maciel Torres; the general director of CFE, Manuel Bartlett Díaz; the general director of CFEnergía, Miguel Santiago Reyes Hernández; the constitutional governor of the state of Campeche, Layda Sansores San Román; and the Secretary of Economic Development and Labor of Yucatán, Ernesto Herrera Novelo, representing the constitutional governor of the State of Yucatán, Mauricio Vila Dosal.

The Secretary of Economic Development and Labor of Yucatán, Ernesto Herrera, highlighted that "with the construction of this new gas pipeline, the potential we will have is enormous, and more and better opportunities will come. The expansion of Mayakan Energía means access to more than 567 million cubic feet per day of Natural Gas through 700 kilometers of pipeline, through the states of Campeche, Chiapas, Tabasco and Yucatán.

The work will promote the economic and social development of the region with the creation of more than 4,000 direct and indirect jobs, more than US$2 billion dollars of investment and the construction of 275 social infrastructure works that will benefit their communities.

During the commemorative event, following the traditions and customs of the indigenous communities, a traditional Mayan ceremony was held where permission was requested from Mother Earth to begin construction work on the gas pipeline, with the intention that the project be carried out. carried out successfully.
