
CFE holds an information meeting to publicize the projects in the Yucatán Peninsula

On Wednesday, October 11, management personnel of the Federal Electricity Commission convened the main contractor companies, manufacturers and suppliers in electrical matters, to present the Projects of the Yucatan Peninsula and the so-called “I19” Contests 1, 2 and 3, which are of great relevance for the reliability of the National Electric System and reflect the efforts of this administration to strengthen the transmission network.
In his participation, Mr. Rubén Cuevas Plancarte, Corporate Director of Administration, emphasized that carrying out an informative Roadshow with the main companies in the electricity sector is an unprecedented and innovative act in public administration, which reflects the commitment to transparency, which encourages maximum participation and offers a level playing field to all interested companies.
For his part, Eng. Héctor Edgardo Lizárraga Robles, General Director of CFE Transmission and Eng. Rafael Antonio Ramírez, Coordinator of Transmission and Transformation Projects, explained that there are 5 priority projects for the electrical development of the Yucatán Peninsula, as well such as, an interconnection project from the Northeast to the Center of the country, called I19.
The projects that were presented were:
- Increase in transmission capacity of Cancún and Riviera Maya II areas (Leona Vicario). (Pidiregas).
- Increase in transmission capacity of Cancún and Riviera Maya (Kantenáh) areas. (Pidiregas).
- Playacar Submarine Alternating Current – Chankanaab II. (Pidiregas).
- Transformation and Transmission Querétaro, Isla del Carmen, Nuevo Casas Grandes and La Huasteca (Phase 2, Puerto Real Banco 1 and 2) (3rd Call). (Pidiregas).
- Nachicocom (Formerly Chichi Suárez Bco 1). (Budget).
- Increase in transmission capacity in the Northeast Center of the Country (I19 Contests 1, 2 and 3). (Pidiregas).
The development of these projects will allow us to meet the supply of demand, preserve and improve the Reliability of the National Electrical System (SEN), as well as have greater voltage regulation in the Northeast, Central and Peninsula areas, especially in the Riviera. Maya, encourage efficient expansion of generation, application of smart grid technologies and reduction in total production costs.
Regarding the hiring procedure, Mr. Miguel Alejandro López López, Deputy Director of Contracting and Services, proceeded to explain to the participants the requirements to be able to compete in each project, highlighting the main requirements such as accreditation of the company's experience, technical capacity of the staff, formalization of contracts with similar scope and satisfactory completion, having sufficient economic capacity to carry out the project through stockholders' equity, among others.
Additionally, Mr. Frank Viveros Ballesteros, Deputy Director of Financial Operation, reported that for the Pidiregas projects presented, there is an alternative in which the CFE will offer a mechanism to access competitive financing, in order for the projects to be bankable for the contracting companies.
Finally, a question and answer session was held to resolve concerns and doubts regarding the project, seeking to ensure maximum participation and provide the best possible conditions to national and international companies.
It should be noted that the event was attended by 90 companies, including contractors, manufacturers and suppliers, as well as the participation of the National Chamber of Electrical Manufacturing (CANAME).
The CFE will continue to develop the transmission projects necessary to guarantee the reliable supply of electrical energy throughout the country, with the support and joint work of the companies committed to the strengthening and modernization of the National Electrical System.
