CFE increases power savings 19%

Mexico's state power company CFE saved 3,300GWh in consumption and 1,120MW in demand from January-September this year through its energy efficiency schemes, making 19% overall savings over the same period in 2002, the company said in a statement. The CFE installed 1.07 million energy-efficient light bulbs, insulated some 6,000 homes and replaced 30,000 air-conditioning units as part of the efficiency program during the nine-month period. The CFE has installed a total of 13.8 million new light bulbs, insulated almost 85,000 homes and replaced nearly 70,000 air-conditioning units since the efficiency program started in 1991.
