CFE investing US$110mn in plant upgrades

Mexico's federal energy company CFE will invest 1.3bn pesos (US$110mn) into projects designed to repair and modernize seven power plants across the country, the company announced. Works will benefit the following thermoelectric plants: Mexico state's 99MW Valle de Mexico; Colima state's 1,200MW Manuel Moreno Alvarez; Veracruz state's 2,100MW Adolfo Lopez Mateos; and the 520MW Emilio Portes Gil center in Tamaulipas state. In addition the CFE will upgrade the 8MW Botello hydroelectric center in Michoacan state, as well as the 452MW Dos Bocas and the 200MW Gomez Palacio combined cycle plants in Veracruz and Durango states respectively. Separately, the CFE has launched bidding for 1.1bn pesos in upgrades from next year on Veracruz's Ixtaczoquitlan and Tuxpango hydroelectric plants, and the Salamanca, Francisco Perez Rios and Altamira thermoelectric plants in Guanajuato, Hidalgo and Tamaulipas states respectively.
