Chile generator submits US$230mn wind park for environmental review

Chilean power firm Engie Energía submitted for environmental review a US$230mn wind park planned for Biobío region.

The proposed facility, El Rosal, would have 185MW of installed capacity and connect to the grid via a 5.1km power line, according to documents filed with environmental review agency SEA.

Engie proposes a battery storage system at the plant and has penciled in a construction start date of 4Q24.

Last quarter Engie said it had 860MW of renewables projects in the advanced development phase.

Developer Blue Light Energy filed for evaluation in Chile a US$150mn solar park, San Javier.

Planned for Maule region, the plant would have installed generation capacity of 144MW and an 80MW battery storage system, with eight-hour injection capacity.

Construction is due to start in early 2027.

Chile’s state oil company Enap filed for environmental review a pair of gas pipeline projects, one requiring investment of US$10.0mn, the other US$500,000.

The bigger of the two, known as the Cahuil Alto flow lines, involves laying pipe that will connect various wells to an existing dispatch network in Magallanes region.

Work is scheduled to get underway in January 2024.

The smaller of the two, the Hemmer flow line, involves laying pipe to connect the Hemmer A exploratory well to existing gas transport infrastructure in the same region. Work is due to start by the end of the year.
