Santiago, January 2023.- The recently published Renewable Energy Country Attractiveness Index Report (RECAI 60), a biannual index that has been prepared since 2003 with the aim of analyzing the evolution and trends in the international renewable energy markets, showed, among its results, Chile in 17th place, a drop of 2 places compared to the same previous count. [one]

Although it is still within the top 20 most attractive countries for this type of investment, this result contrasts with other measurements and projections that consider Chile in a much higher position in this area.

This slight setback may be due to the situation and contrasts with the rise that NCREs, with solar energy always at the forefront, have experienced in recent years, coming to make up more than a third of the national energy matrix. Investments in the sector continue to demonstrate confidence in the long term and in the current regulatory framework, which has facilitated the development of the sector.

“Different measurements and rankings continue to consider Chile as one of the most important and attractive places to invest in clean energy. Our potential is enormous and the whole world knows it. A drop of a couple of places in the RECAI 60 is not going to stop the work we do every day in solar energy and the rest of the NCREs, to continue being a growing part of the national matrix and to continue advancing towards the long-awaited decarbonization”, says Mario Gómez, Commercial Manager of Solek Chile.

A slight setback that in no way affects the long road traveled by NCREs, especially photovoltaics. With unusual growth projections and support from both the private sector and the government, no one would be surprised to see Chile leading this and many other rankings related to clean energy in the immediate future.
