Chile will host an international event for the risk industry

Santiago, October 2024.- With the presence of more than 200 executives from various Latin American countries, Marsh McLennan Insurance Week will begin on November 4, which will consist of a full week of activities and meetings related to the risk industry. Among the scheduled events is the Marsh McLennan Seminar called “From Uncertainty to Opportunity: Global Risks and Economic Perspectives”; and the Copa Aseguradores Golf Championship, which has been organized in Chile for 18 years.

The meeting represents great news for the country, not only because it keeps Chile as a relevant business focus for the region, but also because it will bring together the most important exponents of the insurance, reinsurance and brokerage industry, at a time when the advance of climate change and the imminent threat of cyberattacks - in addition to political, geopolitical and economic changes - force companies to get up to date in terms of risk.

At the same time, insurance companies are expanding their capabilities and scope to be able to cover cyber risk, which is becoming increasingly important in the country, as we have seen with various news reports of cyber security breaches in important local companies.”

In particular, the Fourth Edition of the Marsh McLennan Seminar will take place on Wednesday, November 6, in the auditorium located in the Tánica building and will consist of different conversation sessions. The first presentation will be given by Rodrigo Valdés , director of the Western Hemisphere Department of the IMF and former Minister of Finance, who will speak about the impact of the US elections, held a day earlier, in Chile and Latin America.

There will then be two discussion panels. The first will be on the Economic and Social Perspectives for Chile and the Region, with the participation of the president of Econsult and former Minister of Economy, José Ramón Valente ; the vice president of the CPC and former Minister of Energy, Susana Jiménez ; and the academic from the University of Chile and former president of Codelco, Óscar Landerretche . The second will be on Challenges and Opportunities for companies with the presence of the general manager of Banco de Chile, Eduardo Ebensperger ; the Country Head of Río Tinto, Soledad Jeria ; the past president of the Chilean Chamber of Construction, Juan Armando Vicuña ; and the general manager of AES Andes, Javier Dib .

Finally, there will be two presentations. The first one on Cybersecurity and critical aspects that every CEO should know, with the presence of Marsh's Cyber Risk Consulting Leader for Latin America, Edson Villar ; and Marsh's Cyber Leader for Latin America and the Caribbean, Holly Medforth . And the second, focused on Climate Risks and Insurance Market Solutions, with the participation of the Regional Manager of New Business and Parametric Solutions, Siegfried King .
