Cirion expanding Mexico network with Gold Data alliance
Technology provider Cirion has once again opted for a partnership to expand its digital infrastructure in Latin America.
After announcing an improvement in its submarine cable capacity following an agreement with Google's Firmina, the company has formed an alliance with Gold Data to expand fiber in Mexico.
The alliance will allow Cirion to expand its fiber network with a new duct to improve connectivity between Mexico City and Querétaro, the company said in a release last week.
The contract with Gold Data secures exclusive rights to use underground infrastructure for more than 20 years, Cirion sources told BNamericas.
The new fiber optic route provides state-of-the-art infrastructure serving customers requiring dedicated connectivity, IT infrastructure and cloud presence, according to Cirion.
"This new route will allow them to effectively address the specific dedicated access needs of their customers, as well as strengthen the redundancy of their network in this important region of Mexico," the company said.
In addition, Cirion has invested in optical-enabled metropolitan networks in Mexico to triple the size of its current footprint and bring fiber connectivity to new locations in three cities, with 73km of metropolitan rings in Guadalajara, nearly 200km in Monterrey and more than 260km in Mexico City, the company said in the press release.
Cirion's national ring network in Mexico currently extends for approximately 4,260km and is connected to international routes in Monterrey.
