Cisco to invest US$130mn in Puerto Rico
Cisco Systems will invest US$130mn in Puerto Rico's digital transformation, as part of a strategy to turn the island into a technological hub for the Americas.
"The agreement strengthens this administration's policy of developing initiatives towards digital transformation and innovation," said a statement from the office of the Puerto Rico governor.
Puerto Rico has become a testbed for new technologies, as companies such as T-Mobile and América Móvil have invested in the US territory to deploy new, faster networks on the path to 5G.
Late last year, América Móvil said it would begin 5G tests in Puerto Rico in 2019.
