PRESS RELEASE from CNE
June 13, 2024

- Deadline to receive comments on the document expires on July 22.
- The Regulatory Subdepartment of the organization will hold a webinar over two days to publicize the details of this process.

The National Energy Commission (CNE) published in the Official Gazette the call for public consultation regarding the Technical Annex of Seismic Requirements for High Voltage Electrical Installations (ATRS) of the Technical Standard for Safety and Quality of Service ( NTSyCS ), whose deadline to receive comments is July 22, 2024.

The objective of this new Annex is to define the minimum design requirements for high voltage electrical installations of the National Electric System (SEN), focusing on their integration and operation.

The Annex proposes that the facilities, composed of equipment, support structures and foundations, must be analyzed as a whole and individually to comply with the established regulatory requirements.

This document seeks to ensure that, in the event of an earthquake, damage to equipment, support structures, foundations or other elements does not limit the operation of the facilities. Therefore, any damage that occurs during the earthquake can be repaired without affecting the operational continuity of the facility.

In this way, the new Technical Annex aims to minimize the social and economic impact of earthquakes, avoiding the interruption of the operation of the facilities after a design earthquake and, consequently, having a more resilient electrical system.
