CNE, UNDP to study sustainable energy policy

Bnamericas
Chile's energy regulator CNE and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) have signed an agreement to jointly develop a sustainable energy policy, the CNE announced. CNE head Luis Sánchez Castellón and the UNDP's resident representative in Chile, Irene Phillipi, agreed that the two institutions would analyze Chile's energy sector scenario and make proposals that would promote the environmental sustainability of the power sector. The agreement calls for talks with power sector players to produce a final document that would be used as the starting point for further discussion. Such discussion is far from Chile's first, and for years the CNE has been studying the removal of barriers to renewable energies.
