Colbun, Chilectra sign supply contract

Chilean generator Colbun signed a contract Tuesday (Dec.2) to supply power to distributor Chilectra from 2004 until 2018, Colbun said in a local stock exchange filing Thursday. The contracted supply will be in fixed monthly and variable annual blocks, which will increase gradually up to a maximum of 687MW in 2009, the statement said. The fixed monthly blocks will average 1,260GWh/y during 2004-2008 and 4000GWh/y during 2009-2018. The variable annual blocks will average 5% of these respective fixed annual blocks. The contract comes into force May 1, 2004 and expires on December 31, 2018, with supply of the fixed blocks starting on July 1, 2004. Contract billing will be subject to node prices established by the relevant authority, the filing said. Colbun is owned by Belgium's Tractebel and Chilectra by Chilean power holding Enersis.
