Colombia advances US$620mn rail corridor
Colombia’s infrastructure agency ANI selected the PYE-Corredor Férreo Central consortium to carry out prefeasibility studies for the Bogotá-Cundinamarca and the 2.5tn-peso (US$617mn) La Dorada-Chiriguaná rail link.
The consortium, comprising Progin and Epypsa, will have 12 months to define the best alternative to guarantee an efficient rail connection.
ANI structuring manager Jonathan Bernal said in a video that the connection between the country’s center and the Caribbean ports will reduce transport costs by 26% and include rails and roads.
La Dorada-Chiriguaná will be developed as a 10-year PPP. The contract will be awarded in the second half of 2024.
