Colombia announces more waterworks projects under US$26bn reactivation plan
Colombia’s housing ministry announced 18 potable water and wastewater projects costing 255bn pesos (US$66mn) that will be carried out under the Compromiso por Colombia reactivation program.
The reactivation plan is intended to mobilize around 100tn pesos (US$26bn) in public and private investments over the next two years.
The ministry had previously unveiled 40 water projects to be executed under this plan and now authorities aim to have 100 such initiatives approved by the end of this year, the ministry stated in a release.
The 58 projects approved so far have a combined cost of 606bn pesos (US$157mn) and are expected to benefit 2.2mn people once they are completed.
The latest batch includes projects that will benefit Sucre, Huila, Nariño, Antioquia, Caquetá, Tolima, Córdoba and César departments.
