Colombia awards consultancy for US$2.8bn El Dorado airport expansion
Consortium El Dorado Airport Consulting won a nine-month contract related to the US$2.8bn expansion of El Dorado international airport in Bogotá.
The consortium is made up of Consultoría Inversiones Proyecto-CPI, Meta Engineering and Proyectos y Diseños.
The contract involves review, analysis and evaluation of the technical, environmental, social, property, legal, financial and risk components of the expansion, dubbed EDmax, a private initiative in the feasibility stage, infrastructure agency ANI said in a statement.
EDmax includes a new passenger terminal, expansion of the cargo terminal to optimize the logistics of goods transported on passenger aircraft, improvements to immigration processes, security control and passenger processing areas.
Another part of the project relates to improved connectivity with Bogotá and other key areas.
The expansion is expected to boost the airport's capacity from 40mn to 60mn passengers per year.
Colombia is improving its airport infrastructure as it expects to see 95mn passengers by 2030.
