Colombia awards Cundinamarca aqueduct contract
Colombia's territorial financial development agency Findeter awarded the construction contract for the La Mesa-Anapoima aqueduct to Consorcio Acueducto Regional, the country's housing ministry said in a press release. The project demands total investments of 29bn pesos (US$10mn), including consultancy.
According to bidding documents from Findeter, construction proceeds in three stages. The current first stage involves installing over 40km of pipelines in Cundinamarca department to the west of capital Bogotá, to transport water from the capital to the municipalities of Madrid, La Mesa and Anapoima, benefiting 40,000 residents.
A previous contract for the aqueduct was canceled in 2012 due to contractor Nule Group's involvement in a corruption scandal the previous year. Works then were paralyzed for a decade and those that were finished appeared to be poor executed.
