Colombia breaks ground on transmission line
Colombia's Grupo Energía de Bogotá (GEB) kicked off construction of a transmission line that will help dispatch power to the country's southwest region and improve reliability of the national grid.
The 230kV 202km Tesalia-Alférez line will have 424 towers and cross 11 municipalities in departments Huila, Tolima and Valle del Cauca, GEB said in a statement.
The 173bn-peso (US$75mn) link is the second phase of a 217bn-peso project whose first phase was completed in 2014 and included the Tesalia substation and a 50km line.
Mining and energy planning unit UPME awarded GEB the project in 2012.
