Within the framework of the Just Energy Transition that guarantees access to energy for the most vulnerable populations, in the department of La Guajira, the Ministry of Mines and Energy and the Institute for Planning and Promotion of Energy Solutions, IPSE, officially delivered 80 Energy Communities, a key strategy of the National Government for the reduction of energy poverty in Colombia, which gives populations the possibility of improving their living conditions and the development of the territory.
“We are very happy, we are here in Uribía, in La Guajira, in the Wayuu capital of La Guajira, already delivering the progress of the fair energy transition for this territory that gives so much to the country. We inaugurated 148 energy communities named by the Wayuu people as 'Michicay Casa del Sol'. We are here today at this inauguration where, from now on, 148 communities will have access to energy 24 hours a day and it will also be part of this chapter of the fair transition that we are developing from the Government of Change,” said Minister Andrés Camacho, at the official delivery to the community.
These communities are made up of the Miichi Ka'i system, an innovative technology that, with a centralized system, combines efficiency, versatility and sustainability to provide energy service 24/7 through 82 nanogrids and 40 microgrids. In addition, it goes hand in hand with the implementation of 183 individual photovoltaic solar systems.
“In the dispersed rural area of this department and territory where the Government of Change began the implementation of the Energy Communities strategy, we are fulfilling and moving forward with the implementation of community energy systems such as Miichi Ka'i , which means House of the Sun, created directly by IPSE to provide continuous service to 1,409 families. With a cumulative power of 1,067.85 kWp, they also provide the possibility of including communication antennas, the capacity to operate water pumping systems and refrigeration systems for food preservation,” said Danny Fernando Ramírez Bastidas, director of IPSE.
Among the benefited communities are: Alamana, Aliptechon, Arawanapa 1 and 2, Arawanapa 2, Alemamain, Barranca, Camarote 1 and 2, Casutaren 1, 2 and 3, Ceibote, Chichakant, Coropontain, Gualakaly, Guarerapu (Hatahain), Ipa 1, 2 and 3, individual Ipashi, Iporo, Irruwain 1 and 2, Irwain, Ishispa, Italú, Jaiguamana 1, Jaiguamana 2, Jaipirachi, Janchechi, Japuralao, Jasaichon 1, Jasalenchon, Jashirrain 1 and 2, Jachein 1, 2 and 3, Jiipi, Jimentirra, Jimulashi, Jipumana, Jiwarain Waiwache 1, Jiwarain Waiwache 2, Jiwarain Waiwache 3, Jotomana Jojoncito, Jotomana Beach sector, Jotomana Beach sector 1, Jotomana Beach sector 2, Joulonshein, Juruwatshi, Juyanaspa, Jawain, Julatchi, Julutpana, Kaiwa, Kaitamana 1, Kalonka, Karriaisina, Kasipaichi Kasumana, Kasushiwou, Kayushiwain, Kazutalain, Kepischon, Kerirarimahana, Koomana, Kulupuleka, Kurchepen, Kuisaru, Kuluupuleka, La Trampa, La Trampa Ii, Maiz 1 and 2, Makulantirra, Malakalý, Malairratu, Manalén, Mannapaz, Mañatuy Cardón sector, Mapuachon, Mapuaquito 1 and 2, Mashulamana 1 and 2, Masamana, Mayshen, Matúu Yotojoroin 1, 2, 3 and 4, Moyojoy, Murrenamana school, Murrenamana 1 and 2, Murrenamana (Tropic), Nortechon, Ousinalu, Pakimana, Pailacao, Palashetamana 1, Palashetamana 2, Palashipa, Paranari, Parralutamana 1, 2 and 3, Patsuaná, Petpanachon, Piazapa, Planachon, Puay, Rancho Grande, Royo, Samario-Atapchon, San Luis, Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz B, Santana, Sapalou, Sarrut, Shirramana A, Shirramana B, Sichiwarallu, Sillamana, Tacunamana, Taiwachon, Taparachon Marañamana, Taparachon Marañamana 1, Taparachon Marañamana 2, Tospa, Tolopchi, Trillajain, Uataitu, Utaithu–Porchors, Uyatpana, Waluyamana, Watchualli, Wainalepu 1, Wainalepu 2, Wasachen, Wejeipa 1, Wirruruian, Wososopu, Wotoinchon, Yatatchi, Yolumali, Youruna.

Thus, the IPSE and the Ministry of Mines and Energy contribute to the Fair Energy Transition of the Government of Change, which, beyond bringing energy to the most remote populations of Colombia, seeks to generate development and progress.
