Colombia expects to have the largest electric bus fleet in Latin America in 2022.

During a virtual forum on sustainable mobility, transport minister María Ángela Orozco said that next year the country should have 1,589 electric buses in operation.

The figure includes 35 that are already operating in Cali, 69 acquired by Metroplús in Medellín, and 133 that started operating in May on the Transmilenio network in Bogotá, which currently has 483 electric buses.

Another 578 electric buses are due to be added to Transmilenio next February and 424 in April.
