Colombia extends Aerocali's airport concession
Colombian infrastructure agency ANI extended Aerocali's concession for the Alfonso Bonilla Aragón international airport, serving Cali, until August 31, 2025.
The concession would have expired in October this year, but a public-private partnership contract, involving 4tn pesos (US$960mn) for the expansion and operation of the facility is still in the pre-feasibility phase and under review by the finance ministry to determine risks and assess contingent obligations, ANI president Francisco Ospina told reporters.
Pending the respective approvals, the award process could begin next year.
Modernization works include a new 42.5m control tower, 24 new boarding bridges, a new 30,700m2 building to house the national and international terminals and the expansion of the loading platform.
Meanwhile, Aerocali is investing 15bn pesos to ensure operations, maintenance and services continue.
Works include the replacement of slabs, a new cover for the cargo terminal, renewal of the runway asphalt layer and slope stabilization work on the eastern side.
In 2023, the airport handled around 6.80mn passengers.
