Colombia opens new terminal at Cali airport

Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos officially inaugurated a new passenger terminal at the Alfonso Bonilla Aragón airport in Cali, according to a release from infrastructure agency ANI.
The new terminal covers an area of 19,600m2 and has a 55,000m2 apron exclusively for international passengers to help deal with demand. The terminal requried an investment of 230bn pesos (US$76.6mn) and is part of a more extensive expansion of the airport, which ANI president Luis Fernando Andrade said was 95% complete.
ANI underlined that 17 years ago the airport had annual traffic of 1.8mn passengers, which has now jumped to 5.8mn.
Meanwhile, the president once again defended the role of the ANI and his government to expand the country's infrastructure, after being questioned as a result of information revealed by the Odebrecht probe.
"The infrastructure revolution we been carrying is not only the best, but also the cleanest and most transparent, and because of that I insist that we cannot allow this great revolution to be overlooked and for one rotten apple to contaminate thousands of contractors that have worked honestly," he said.
