Colombia's Celsia starts La Mesa solar works

Colombia's Celsia has begun construction work on three solar parks with 60MW of combined installed capacity.

The projects are located in the municipality of La Mesa in Cesar department, the Medellín-based company said in a statement.

They will be built on 80ha of land and comprise 210,000 photovoltaic panels. Construction is expected to last 10-12 months.

Celsia transmission director Julián Cadavid said the projects, which have been the subject of three years of planning, have secured connections to Colombia's national grid.

He added that Celsia is on track to end the year with 350MW of grid-scale solar capacity.
