Colombia’s ISA submits EIS for US$63mn Peru power project
Peru power transmission operator Consorcio Transmantaro filed a detailed EIS for the US$63mn Belaunde Terry-Tarapoto Norte dispatch project.
The 220kV, 100km line and associated substations are planned for the northern Amazon region of San Martín.
ISA-controlled Transmantaro expects construction to take 25 months.
The document highlights that no indigenous groups are in the direct area of influence and that the infrastructure would not border any natural protected area or buffer zone.
In 2023, investment promotion agency ProInversión and Transmantaro signed the 30-year concession contract for Belaunde Terry-Tarapoto Norte.
Transmantaro recently submitted semi-detailed EISs for the 500kV San José-Yarabamba and 200kV Miguel Grau (formerly Piura Nueva)-Colán transmission projects. The company also holds 30-year concessions for these.
Last month, sister company Red de Energía del Perú (ISA REP) began a package of works known as "Ampliación 23" to overhaul substations in Chiclayo, Guadalupe, Trujillo and Ayaviri.
