Colombia's top 10 natural gas projects
Colombia is stepping up natural gas production to meet rising demand from thermoelectric power plants, industrial consumers, households and the transport sector.
Output of the fossil fuel climbed 9.4% year on year in 2019 to 1.068Bf3/d (million cubic feet per day), official figures show.
The biggest producer was state-run company Ecopetrol, followed by Chevron, GeoProduction and Hocol, according to data published by the Andean country's mines and energy ministry.
The Equión-operated Pauto Sur area was the most prolific field with 424.49Mf3/d, followed by Ecopetrol-controlled Cupiagua with 316.68Mf3/d.
