Consortium lands Peru northwest oil acreage
Peru’s hydrocarbons licensing authority Perupetro has awarded the license contract to operate onshore northwest block V under a second call for the acreage.
The winner was Consorcio GTG Petroleum & Corporación del Sur - Sucursal del Perú, procurement information shows. The contract term for oil production is 30 years and 40 years for non-associated natural gas and condensates.
Petrolera Monterrico (Petromont) had been selected in the original tender, which was cancelled due to economic reasons, Petromont told BNamericas previously. Perupetro did not respond to a request for comment on why the first process was called off.
GTG Petroleum describes itself as “a Peruvian company with English capital associated with Petrolera Monterrico” and Corporación del Sur is an Argentine firm.
Petromont already operates onshore northwest producing blocks II, XV and XX.
Unna Energía is the current operator of block V which is a marginal crude producer. Unna’s contract expires next month.
The other bidders in the second call were Consorcio Inventa Energy Enterprises - Werrus Energy Management, Empresa de Recursos Energéticos Unienergia ABC and Sapet Development Peru.
