Press release from the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC).

The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), through Provías Nacional (PVN), awarded the contract for the recycling and resurfacing service for Avenida Morales Duárez in Callao, the main access road to the new Jorge Chávez International Airport. This work, which involves an investment of more than 13 million soles, will improve the current condition of 4.2 kilometers of roadway, from Avenida Santa Rosa to Túpac Amaru street, thus optimizing vehicular flow and user safety.

The improvements include the application of granular base material, recycling of existing pavement, application of asphalt emulsion, milling and resurfacing with asphalt mixture, which will allow for proper pavement service and guarantee safe and efficient transitability.

The project will be carried out in two sections. In the first section, between the intersection of Faucett and Morales Duárez avenues to Santa Rosa Avenue, asphalt recycling and resurfacing work will be carried out. In the second section, from the intersection of Avenida Faucett and Morales Duárez to Túpac Amaru street, asphalt milling and resurfacing work will be carried out.

More interventions at the accesses to the new airport

As part of the comprehensive improvement of the routes around the new Jorge Chávez International Airport, the MTC is carrying out routine deep patching work on Avenida Faucett and Morales Duárez, as well as on the access section to the new air terminal. In addition, the contracting of traffic light and signaling services at the main intersections of Avenida Morales Duárez, such as Airport, Jorge Chávez and Santa Rosa avenues, is in process, and is expected to be awarded in November.

The paving between Avenida Santa Rosa and Morales Duárez has also been completed to enable the U-turn, complying with the radii established by law, and additional work is scheduled to begin in November on Jirón Jorge Chávez to enable another U-turn. Likewise, maintenance is being carried out on the existing U-turn sector on Avenida Aeropuerto.

As a complementary measure, the call for proposals has been launched for the installation of modular bridges on Elmer Faucett Avenue, which will speed up traffic on Morales Duárez Avenue and facilitate access to the new airport.

These actions will allow for better traffic flow on the non-concessioned national roads that connect to the new Jorge Chávez International Airport, to the benefit of future users of the airport and the population that travels on these routes.
