UCOM-MHE 05-31-23.- In a meeting with the Minister of Hydrocarbons and Energy, Franklin Molina Ortiz, the Group of Partners for the Development of Bolivia (GruS) expressed this Thursday its commitment to continue cooperation with Bolivia, after verifying substantial progress in the execution of projects related to renewable energies and the energy transition.

On the occasion, in the context of the national government's energy policy, Molina reviewed the results of the sector's projects and their socioeconomic impact for the benefit of the population in municipalities and communities in different regions of the country. Along these lines, his presentation covered hydrocarbons, lithium and renewable energies, in addition to the start of a roadmap for the development of green hydrogen.

Now “cooperation in research, science and technology in Bolivia can be expanded. We have the vision of reinforcing these areas”, asserted the Minister in relation to the need for the country to develop its own knowledge to face and accelerate the projects framed in the energy policy.

Molina also presented the vision of the sector with a perspective to the year 2050, where it is planned to establish an inclusive and accessible energy sector with integration and industrialization, a scenario in which energy production is efficient and sustainable. To achieve these purposes, he said it is important to promote research, development and innovation.

The members of the GruS, made up of 20 bilateral and multilateral organizations and cooperation agencies present in Bolivia, expressed their satisfaction with the progress shown in the energy sector and expressed their willingness to expand cooperation. Its objective is to support the harmonization and alignment of international aid to the country's priorities and seeks to work synergistically from different fields of action.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the European Union —which holds the GruS presidency— Japan-Jica, the Inter-American Development Bank, Germany, the World Bank, Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica, Korea-Koica, Spain-Aecid, the United States, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), France, Great Britain, Italy, United Nations, Sweden and Switzerland.
