Santiago de Chile, October 11.- Empresas Copec successfully carried out its first issue of two series of green bonds for a total amount of UF 4 million (just over US$163 million) in the local market.
The first issue corresponded to the AH series, for an amount of UF 3 million, with a 20-year maturity, a placement rate of 2.98% and a demand that reached 1.84 times the amount offered. The second issue corresponded to the AG series, for an amount of UF 1 million, with a 10-year maturity, a placement rate of 3.09% and a demand equivalent to 2.32 times the amount offered. The placements achieved a spread of 73 and 74 basis points, respectively, being the lowest of the year in corporate issues, demonstrating the high interest of the market.
An amount equivalent to the funds from this transaction - for which Scotiabank acted as financial advisor and placement agent - will be used to finance or refinance climate change mitigation and/or adaptation and environmental protection projects, such as investments in energy efficiency and renewable energy, among others.
“Empresas Copec is committed to developing and promoting sustainable investments and businesses, with a long-term view and in accordance with its purpose: to forge a world for future generations. In this context, the issuance of this bond is in line with our objectives as a Group and with our sustainability strategy and goals, since it considers investments for an equivalent amount in energy efficiency and renewable energy projects, among others. In addition, we are very satisfied with the positive reception we had from investors, which demonstrates the confidence that the market has placed in the Company,” said Rodrigo Huidobro, Administration and Finance Manager of Empresas Copec.
