Córdoba government signs agreement for urban infrastructure works

This is a machine translation of the original release from Córdoba Municipality issued in Spanish.

Governor Juan Schiaretti and Mayor Martín Llaryora today signed an agreement for the implementation and execution of a work plan in 33 neighborhoods of the capital that lack basic infrastructure, as part of the “Más Barrio” program, involving urbanization and regularization of ownership in popular neighborhoods, which is carried out by the provincial government.

The initiative will be financed jointly by the municipality and the province, with an investment of 9,625 million pesos in works that will benefit more than 8,500 families in 33 neighborhoods of the city.

In this respect, Llaryora stressed that the municipality will contribute 30% and the province 70%. "When two governments stop fighting and work together, they are less interested in politics and more interested in their residents," said the mayor.

"We can do these works thanks to the solidarity of a governor who sees the need to turn humble neighborhoods into neighborhoods of progress so that they lack nothing," added the head of the municipality.

The works will be carried out on a total of 269 hectares in the areas El Sauce, Bajo Pueyrredón, 12 de Septiembre, El Milagro, La Huertilla, Parque de las Rosas, La Favelita, Las Magdalenas, Las Magdalenas Extension, Costa Canal, El Pueblito, La Toma, Seis de Agosto, Los 40 Guasos, Villa Ávalos, El Chaparral, Los Filters, El Trencito, Felipe Varela, El Dorado, El Pueblito, Los Manantiales Cooperative, San Alberto, Villa Parque, Los Josefinos, Juana Marta González Community, La Maternidad, Las Tablitas, Las Violetas, Villa de Mafekin, La Canchita, Nuevo Progreso and Los Chapones.

Governor Juan Schiaretti stressed: “It is no coincidence that we have eight completed, urbanized neighborhoods, or 10 in the process of urbanization and now we are starting with another 33. We were able to start this because now we have a municipality that thinks and feels the same as us and it is on the side of the people. If there is something that characterizes us, it is that we do not fight with anyone or talk much, we speak little and do a lot, and we are characterized by a genuine love for our province and our people.”

This new stage of the “Más Barrio” program includes the installation of more than 77,000 linear meters of electrical networks, 81,000 linear meters of sidewalks and 38,000 meters of sewer networks.

Some 35,000 linear meters of water networks will also be built, more than 114,000 linear meters of roadside drains and 2,000 new lights will be installed.

At the same time and as part of the same program, works are currently being carried out in 10 neighborhoods of the city. These are November 28, Atalaya, Hermana Sierra, July 12, Nueva Esperanza, El Tropezón second stage, Villa Unión, Bajada San José, Los Artesanos and Villa Martínez.

In addition, it should be noted that in 2021 basic infrastructure works were completed in eight areas in the city. Residents of Villa La Tela, Campo de la Ribera, Villa Inés, El Trébol, Barranca Yaco, Cabildo II, Comunidad Reno and the relocation of Bosquecito received basic infrastructure works last year as part of the first stage of the “Más Barrio” program.

With these 33 works, there will be a total of 51 sets of works carried out on 482 hectares, benefiting more than 16,350 families in the capital of Córdoba province.
