Cosipa to invest US$80mn in coking facilities in 2004

Brazilian flat steelmaker Cosipa plans to conclude the revamping of its coking facitilities in 2004 at a cost of US$80mn, Infomet.com news service reported. After the reforms are complete, coke production will increase by 40%. The steelmaker is also developing a new type of steel for the construction of offshore oil platforms, the report said. Sao Paulo-based Cosipa, controlled by Belo Horizonte-based flat steelmaker Usiminas, has an installed steelmaking capacity of 4.5Mt.
