Costa Rica plans to publish 8 highway maintenance tenders this month

Costa Rica’s national roads council (Conavi) plans to launch eight highway maintenance tenders this month.

Executive director Mauricio Batalla said the tenders will be for delayed maintenance work and will be published between October 24 and 31, according to outlet Carreteras Pan-Americanas.

Conavi said the two-year contracts are worth 45bn colones (US$70mn), and are expected to be awarded around November 28. Works are scheduled to start between December 15 and January 1.

The agency added that the tenders will be launched under a fast-track mode that allows bids to be submitted within 1-5 days of publication.

The process also involves fewer requirements and will follow guidance provided by the Inter-American Development Bank.

Since August, at least 38 tenders have been published by Conavi on procurement website Sicop.
