With this proposal by deputies Paulina Ramírez Portuguez, Luis Diego Vargas Rodríguez, Olga Morera Arrieta and Horacio Alvarado Bogantes, important benefits will be perceived for the sector, such as improvement in cost and risk management, greater efficiency in lead times. the projects, the incorporation of sustainability issues, among others. For its part, the country also obtains benefits, since public works, which will be promoted with this project, are essential for competitiveness, economic reactivation and job creation. Engineer Carlos Trejos, President of the Costa Rican Chamber of Construction, indicated that “we recognize that the incorporation of the latest technologies available on the market in the development of public works will allow us to improve the way in which projects of great relevance to our country are executed. country, such as transportation infrastructure, health, education, water and sanitation, among others. “We are committed to collaborating with government entities to guarantee that, taking advantage of the benefits of innovation and technology, these projects ensure their success.”
According to Trejos, the bill presented is an enabler of competitiveness for the construction sector, in addition to being a very valuable effort to place the country at the forefront, at the level of other OECD countries.
The bill will allow the incorporation of technologies that improve the efficiency and productivity of companies, as well as the modernization of the sector with tools such as Building Information Modeling (BIM), which is a methodology that uses three-dimensional digital models for planning, design , construction and construction project management and its main objective is to integrate all the information of a project into a digital information model created by everyone.Furthermore, it is a method in which collaborative work and the integration of the different disciplines that interact during the construction process prevail and facilitate transversal communication through the generation of a virtual model that contains all the information related to the project throughout the entire project. its life cycle.
The Chamber celebrates the presentation of the initiative, necessary to promote the use of technology that is rapidly transforming the way in which projects are designed, built and managed in the construction industry. In order to maximize the use of these technological tools, the Costa Rican Chamber of Construction, through the BIM Forum, works to generate the conditions that allow the transition of the sector.
